Use Your Calendar More

I'm always telling people to use their calendar more. Instead of just using it for appointments it can be used as a real reminder of upcoming events and for other things.

I'll write more about this in a later post but something happened this weekend which is an example of how it can be used to schedule things far in advance. I have a friend who loves hot food -- spicy hot. I saw that this past weekend there was going to be a Chili Pepper festival in Brooklyn but by the time I saw the information it was too late to plan to go. I called her and when she said she'd like to go next year I made a note in my calendar for the middle of August 2009 to check the date for the Chili Pepper festival in September so we'd be able to go.

Emergency Preparedness Of Different Kind

I haven't posted recently because of a bad fall in the local, quaint shopping area where I caught my foot on the brick sidewalk. It made me realize that emergency preparedness isn't just for calamities such as blizzards or hurricanes. Prepare for other emergencies in your life because you never know what can happen.

I wasn't prepared in some of the right ways. If I had been in the hosptial for longer than two nights it would hve been hard for me to explain to friends where some of the items that I needed or wanted were located. Even though I have a trael bag of toiletries and it's easy for me to find it's not obvious to someone else. When I got home I didn't have a stock of the right type of food and had to have help with shopping. I still wouldn't necessarily have known in advance that I would need soft foods. You can't think about everything you will need for every situation but you never know when something will happen.

I want to give a thanks, in this public forum, to all of my friends who helped me out. You know who you are.
